There is nothing like taking a nap no matter where you are.

This week there was a baptism in our ward.  We started fellowshipping the Navarro family about two months ago.  The husband is a member but his wife, Kiara, wasn't until today. She was baptized yesterday and confirmed a member this morning.  Here are some pictures of Kiara's baptism.

This is our ward, the Deseret Ward.

This is the room where the baptisms are seen by those attending the baptismal service.

Waiting for the service to start

The ward mission leader drew this welcome sign for Kiara.

This is Kiara, her two sons, Ismael and Benjamin, and her husband, Miguel, who baptized her.

This is Miguel's mother and father.  He is First Counselor in the ward and she is the Primary President.

Here we are with this very humble, kind and loving couple.  It was a very special day for us.

We had a beautiful Easter Sunday today here in Peru.  Just like in the United States, the families return home and have dinner together and then enjoy a delicious treat afterwards. Here are some pictures of deserts that you can buy from the bakery.

Our Easter sacrament meeting was very inspirational and we had a couple of special guests.

About once a month Ruth cooks a really nice meal in our huge crock pot.  We put in what we will be eating later on in the day and when we come back to our apartment it is ready.  Yummy!  Ruth decided we were going to have chicken.  Here is the process step by step.

First, we went to the store and bought a whole chicken.

When we opened it up to clean it we pulled out the innards and this is what was inside.

For some reason Ruth didn't want to put the head and the feet into the crock pot.  I think the chicken really felt lonely without them!

We threw in some potatoes, carrots, onions, squash and lots of butter and let it cook slowly for about 6 hours.

Here is the finished product.  Cooked to perfection and so delicious.

It looks almost to good to be eaten.  Don't ask us where the head and feet are!

The Temple in central Lima is very beautiful.  We wrote about it a couple of months ago.  We want to share a few more pictures with you of the temple and some of the temple art which we hadn't seen before.

We take three buses to get to the temple.  This skyscraper is our landmark to get off the second bus and catch the third one right next to it!

After catching the third bus we know we are getting near because we can see the spires and then the temple grounds.

Here we are with the Mossels, the other senior missionary couple with whom we work at the Mission Offices.

Here is some temple art at the Lima, Peru Temple that we haven't seen before.
